Boiler Service Procedure

• The Boiler case is removed and checked for signs of corrosion. Damaged cases can be fixed or new ones obtained. Corrosion is caused by leaking water due to faulty seals and pressure valves (which we can change during the service if necessary)
• The case is thoroughly cleaned on the exterior and interior
• All seals are checked for tightness and wear, loose and worn seals are changed
• Pipeworks checked for leaks any leaking pipes are fixed
• Waterflow and pressure are reviewed and altered if necessary. During this check, we’ll find any blockages that may be present (if your Boiler keeps switching off, you probably have a blockage)
• Every component of the Boiler’s cleaned for smoother running. Cleaning also allows us to carry out tests accurately
• Next, we clean the Gas burner, check and adjust to optimal pressure
• A gas rate check’s conducted using a gas meter. This ensures your Boiler’s using the right level of gas
• A flue gas analyser’s used to check the rate of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and oxygen to ensure your Boilers safe and efficient
• The flues checked and adjusted (if necessary) to make sure it’s holding onto valuable heat while expelling all harmful gasses
• Your Boiler needs ten meters of cubic air for every cubic meter of gas burned ventilations checked to ensure this
• Safety and relief valves prevent Boiler damage in the case of a breakdown. All valves are checked, making sure they’re working properly
• The Boiler and pipework are thoroughly checked for leaking gas
• The case is refitted
• The Boiler and heating are switched on
• Radiators are checked for heat and bled if required
• If you have an old system built up with sludge, your radiators may not get hot at the bottom or middle in this instance. We may recommend a power flush
• Tools are removed, and the work areas tidied up and left as found
• A service records written. Keep this for your records and as proof that a Gas Safe Registered Engineer serviced your Boiler
